Job: Talent Acquisition at Next Adventure

SUMMARY

Next Adventure’s Talent Acquisition & Retention Manager is responsible for cultivating a supportive and inclusive work environment for all employees throughout the full recruitment, hiring, and retention cycle. This includes developing job profiles, implementing recruitment strategies, sourcing candidates through digital platforms, job fairs, and community partnerships; coordinating the interview process, and facilitating new hire onboarding. The Talent Acquisition & Retention Manager plays a critical role in introducing new hires to the culture of the company.  Our ideal candidate is someone who can forecast our future talent needs and budget for the costs of talent recruitment. To be successful in this role, the Talent Acquisition & Retention Manager should have experience in HR and knowledge of human rights legislation. This is a full-time, salaried position that reports directly to the HR Operations Manager. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Hiring

  • Regularly reviews our selection criteria to verify they’re objective and strictly job-related with every job announcement.
  • Represents our company at various career events {like job fairs}.
  • Develops, implements and evaluates strategies in collaboration with Location Managers to attract diverse talent through use of a variety of channels including passive candidate outreach, relationship development, social media, advertising and campaigns.
  • Coordinates with Location Managers to identify company needs and resources.
  • Collaborates with location managers to develop job profiles which are then used for job descriptions and announcements.
  • Develops and maintains a qualified applicant pool for future openings. 
  • Creates job announcements and posts to a variety of “job board” websites.
  • Manages the hiring process flow to ensure compliance to applicable laws.
  • Ensures all hiring staff are trained in effective interview techniques.
  • Conducts initial interviews to determine the pool of applicants that will receive second interviews.
  • Creates and sends offer letters.
  • Continually reviews hiring and onboarding processes for opportunities to improve.
  • Ensures a smooth transition from onboarding to job location.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures by maintaining current knowledge of employment law, compliance mandates, and best practices.

Training and Development

  • Trains HR and leadership staff {Team Leads & above} on how to select, manage, evaluate and retain diverse employees
  • Conducts a specific portion of all new-hire training (Paylocity, NA culture/values, policy procedures etc.) and forecasts to each new employee what will make them successful here.
  • Sources, develops and delivers diversity training as needed.
  • Both creates and collaborates on the creation of training documents.
  • Organizes trainings to boost employees’ communication abilities and team spirit
  • Conducts regular check-ins with Team Leads and Location Managers to provide support, training resources, communication, and leadership tools.

HR Support

  • Works with internal partners to revise and update all communication on our website, social media pages, job descriptions and internal documents to ensure we use non-discriminatory and inclusive language.
  • Acts as Chair of DEI Committee and liaison to Next Adventure to ensure all voices are heard.
  • Initiates the New Hire Workflow process via Asana; assigns tasks and tracks to completion.
  • Onboarding new hires including required paperwork and policy review. 
  • Oversees initiatives to foster knowledge and adoption of diversity and inclusion topics and best practices.
  • Uses statistics, metrics, and reports to assess the progress and effectiveness of hiring and diversity initiatives.
  • At the discretion of the HR Operations Manager, may assist or lead  investigations related to employee complaints or concerns. 
  • Participates in and contributes to HR strategies and initiatives.
  • Assists the HR Team in developing and administering employee retention programs.
  • Ensures compliance and consistency to HR policies and practices, and adheres to all federal, state, and local regulations on diversity and equity.
  • Remains current on best practices and current trends for building a diverse and inclusive workforce.
  • Responsible for ongoing professional self-development around Hiring practices, HR policy, trends, and best practices.
  • Manages workflow using a public, shared calendar.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior experience in the related area and as an individual contributor for a mid-sized company of 150 or more employees. 
  • Experience in diversity recruitment activities, including developing diversity recruitment strategies, sourcing diverse applicants, and providing consulting and coaching to hiring managers and/or recruiters regarding diversity recruitment strategies.
  • Good knowledge of state labor laws and human rights legislation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in effective interviewing strategies

  • Experience developing and delivering employee and leadership trainings
  • Excellent research skills
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop others

  • Work experience in the Outdoor Industry and demonstrated understanding of the unique hiring needs for the industry (preferred).
  • Skilled in Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, and project management and payroll software, preferably Asana and Paylocity.
